The “Mother City” was recently voted favourite city worldwide for 2012 by 17,000 Telegraph readers in the UK.
With Cape Town’s pristine beaches, receiving an award of its own in 2012, and Table Mountain named as one of the 7 wonders of the world in 2011, this award is more than deserved. Not to mention the wide range of top notch restaurants and accommodation facilities the city has to offer. Catering for both 5 star travellers as well as those who prefer the more chilled-out “backpacker vibe”.
What’s most exciting is that not only has Cape Town been recognised as the favourite city, but South Africa came in at being the 3rd favourite country worldwide.
CEO of Cape Town Tourism, Mariette du Toit-Helmbold, shared her excitement:
“The UK market has an on-going love affair with Cape Town. British Airways confirmed that Cape Town is one of their top ten global routes, and the airline just increased its service to Cape Town to two flights a day for summer – our peak UK tourism season. The loyal UK market has high-spending capacity and still holds much potential for us to nurture and cater to.”
One can’t dispute the fact that we live in a truly stunning country!
